How to visit the Great Barrier Reef without treating it as a morning
Cairns, Port Douglas and the Whitsundays are different launchpads. A reef day is a boat day. Stinger season in the far north is typically November to May.

You visit the Great Barrier Reef by giving it a full day on the water from Cairns, Port Douglas or the Whitsundays — not by adding a snorkel to a rainforest morning. Inner-reef pontoons suit first snorkels; outer reefs need calmer seas and more time.
