Kakadu in the dry vs the wet
The dry season is when most first-timers should come. The wet is a different park — spectacular water, closed roads. Darwin is the hinge. Uluru is not next door.

Kakadu in the dry season is the first-timer park: more open roads, rock-art sites and wetland cruises. Kakadu in the wet is a floodplain drama with closures. Choose the season before you choose the lodge.
Definition
Kakadu National Park. A vast World Heritage park in the Top End, jointly managed by Bininj/Mungguy Traditional Owners and Parks Australia. A Parks Australia pass is required.
